ABOUT THE PROJECT
For the 2022 Dutch Design Week, Studio Jeroen Wand wanted to persue its passion for disco lights and design one of their own. I was asked to design and build one based on Jeroen’s concept and personal preferences.
De contraption shows 8 green lasers that can pivot and can rotate around 2 axis. The pivoting mechanism consists of a seperate servo for each of the lights. The rotation is accomplished by 2 brushless motors and a belt and pulley transmission. Rotation and pivoting are controlled by an arduino.
The discolight furthermore consists of lasercut and cnc-bent sheet metal, 3D printed parts and a combination of built and bought mechanical en electronic components.
